Dance

In this project I looked at rhythmic movement, linking dance and craft, inspired by the Gaelic Waulking songs of the Scottish Isles (primarily from the album by Bannal).

Using watercolours and inks to create fluid shapes. These oval shapes represent the ring of fabric on the table being worked on. Waulking/Felling is a finishing process on a fabric that lightly felts it together, making it more weatherproof. I then created an embroidery, using an acrylic 8 ply yarn on a cotton bedsheet.

this time when visualising movement I am focusing on the impact of movement on the table, and the build up of wear through action. I visualised this through water colours
